Favorite Holiday Gifts

Aside from a snazzy new diaper bag, my favorite gifts this holiday season were all food focused. Below are a few of things I was excited to find under my tree on Christmas morning.

From my uncle, Home Cooking With Jean-Georges, a colorful cookbook with an abundance of flavorful recipes (including several dishes served at Abc Kitchen)
Le Creuset's cherry red tea kettle- to replace an older version of the same kettle

Mikuni's Noble Tonic 01 Bourbon Barrel Matured Maple Syrup and Noble Tonic 03 Maple Matured Sherry Bourbon Oak Vinegar. The company's maple syrup comes from ancient maple orchards in Quebec and is matured in Tuthilltown charred American oak barrels, with a hint of Tuthilltown bourbon. The same barrels are used for the 03, to age 10-year-old Spanish Sherry for an additional six months

Christmas Came Early

My son's original due date was today, Christmas day. To my surprise, he arrived two a half weeks early and now shares my husband's birthday. Needless to say, December was a bit of a blur between a taxing, prolonged stay at the hospital and a little cluelessness at home (okay, maybe more than a little). Blogging on a regular basis was the last thing on my sleep deprived mind as the only food related thoughts I had were what and how I should be feeding him. I learned from day one- he takes his food very seriously and just like both of his parents, he loves to eat. Understanding his basic needs continues to be a work in progress, but there is no denying- he is the best early Christmas present I ever got.
