The Treats Truck (named Sugar by owner and baker Kim Ima) rolls around Manhattan and Brooklyn daily in order to bring a multitude of freshly baked cookies, brownies, cupcakes, rice crispy squares, and several daily special goodies to sugar loving New Yorkers. There are standards like the oatmeal cookie with raisins and the chocolate chip brownie, and updates to old classics like the peanut butter and jelly cake sandwich and the apricot dot. I happened upon the Treats Truck on Friday (just in time for my weekly Fat Fridays indulgence) and was drawn to one of the daily specials- the kitchen sink crispy. More than double the size of an average rice crispy in both width and height, the thick, delicious square offers a new take on the original version of a marshmallowy rice crispy by adding pretzel pieces, rainbow colored sugar dots, peanut butter, and m&ms. Thanks to this special treat, I can say with certainty- my first stop at the Treats Truck definitely won't be my last.
