Until yesterday, I had never been to Levain Bakery. Behind its unassuming storefront and cramped space, Levain Bakery turns out 4 varieties of the most decadent cookies in Manhattan (chocolate chip walnut, dark chocolate chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, and dark chocolate peanut butter chip). Priced at $4.00, the six ounce signature chocolate chip walnut cookie is a dessert lover's dream- rich chocolate and crunchy nuts, moist and gooey on the inside with a crisp, golden exterior. I am thankful I don't live on the Upper West Side because I envision these cookies becoming a dangerous indulgence...
