Lidia's Italy: Week 1

Yesterday marked the end of the first full week of filming on the set of Lidia's Italy. The dishes Lidia (and her guests) create in the 26 episode series showcase recipes included in her latest cookbook- Lidia Cooks From The Heart Of Italy. The colorful cookbook, coauthored with Lidia's daughter and knowledgable art historian Tanya Bastianich Manuali, contains 175 regional recipes and will be available for purchase on October 20th.

The following is a small sample of some of the amazing food I was able to taste this past week:

Pasta with baked cherry tomatoes

Provolone turnovers drizzled with honey from the Bastianich apiary

Fresh tacozze pasta with sea bass

Torta with prunes

Chicken catanzarro style

A lunch time plate with a sampling of swordfish bagnara style, and eggplant in tomato sauce

Calabrese salad

Eggplant onions and potatoes

Cherry jam tart

Rice and zucchini crostada

Tuna genova style

Stuffed vegetables

Almond biscottini

Bread salad with summer vegetables
