Fat Fridays: Newport Cookie Company

An outdoor courtyard and ice cream like Maine Lobster Tracks (vanilla ice cream with a crunchy eclair swirl and lobster-colored chocolate cups filled with caramel), a variety of colorful cupcakes decorated to resemble everything from mermaids to martians, and dozens of freshly baked cookies make Newport Cookie Company a great place to refuel after imbibing in the recreational Cliff Walk on the eastern shore of Newport, Rhode Island.

After surveying my Fat Fridays options, I chose a seasonal pumpkin cake ball, accompanied by a cup of tea, and grabbed a seat in the October sun. Pumpkin, ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon flavor a bite sized cake ball enrobed in white chocolate and topped with a decorative orange swirl. A few bites of the moist pumpkiny goodness were all I needed to give me the energy to continue exploring the historic streets of downtown Newport.
