Robbed By Richard Gere

I was robbed by Richard Gere...again! The first robbery took place in 1999 when I was duped into paying money to sit through Runaway Bride. The second, and hopefully last, robbery occurred this weekend at The Barn at Bedford Post (owned by Richard Gere, his wife Carey Lowell, and Russell Hernandez) where I had brunch with a friend.

Our afternoon at The Barn got off to a rough start when we were forced to valet park our car in a parking lot that was not nearly full and is mere steps from The Barn's entrance. Given its proximity to the restaurant, valet parking is highly unnecessary. Unfortunately, once inside, our experience fared little better. The waitstaff was inattentive (we waited almost 15 minutes to place our order and rarely saw our waitress once we did; one of the items we ordered was clearly forgotten; we waited nearly 15 minutes to receive our check after asking for it- only to find we were charged for an item we never ordered) and uninformed (our waitress incredulously said she hadn't tried much on the menu and couldn't give recommendations) and the food was bland and quite expensive in relation to the portion sizes. We left in complete agreement with the customers at the adjacent table (who sent scallops back to the kitchen when they arrived ice cold, and subsequent to placing an order for coffee received a mug with red lipstick on the rim) that The Barn at Bedford Post is not worth returning to.

Entrance to The Barn at Bedford Post

I ordered tea and was given a mug that was less than half full: $3.00

The creamless wild mushroom soup with steamed almond milk and chives arrived at a scorching temperature: $12.00

The cranberry scone (the tastiest part of the meal) was forgotten until we reminded our waitress to bring it: $3.00

The soft poached eggs with wild mushrooms, micro greens and polenta was terribly bland: $14.00

The salad of chioggia beets, la tur, mandarin, hazelnut and saba was small and messily presented: $14.00
