Memories Of Westhampton

I spent the last few days with friends in Westhampton, NY. In addition to perfecting a lazy method for perfectly roasting marshmallows, coined the "Hamptons Roast" (sticking a marshmallow on the end of a skewer and strategically positioning the skewer in the sand a safe distance from your beach fire, thereby eliminating any need to hold the stick), another memorable event was a casual dinner overlooking an amazing sunset at Dockers Waterside in East Quogue (http://dockerswaterside.com/). We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, the lively band (who covered a wide spectrum of artists ranging from Lionel Richie to Alicia Keys), and a menu with an extensive variety of local seafood. The lobsterbake special, a platter overflowing with clams, mussels, shrimp, corn on the cob, and potatoes topped with a bright red steamed lobster was the star of the night. The day boat local fish, a generous portion of mahi-mahi topped with a cherry reduction, served over creamy sweet potatoes and asparagus, was satisfyingly moist and tender. The atmosphere alone is worth the trip; the food is an added bonus.
